Author T. Mullen
Tom Mullen spent over a decade working as a water resources consultant while living in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. He has a Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Master Degree in Civil Engineering / Water Resource Systems from the University of Newcastle-On-Tyne in England, and has published articles and photographs in magazines that include International Groundwater Technology, World Water, Groundwater Age, Resource Recycling, Buzzworm, and Columbia.
Tom spent five months traveling by vehicle, raft, and canoe along the Missouri, Columbia, and Yellowstone rivers to learn about the people who live along these rivers. He interviewed over fifty riverside residents - including engineers, wildlife biologists, and tribal historians - to gain perspective on how reshaping these rivers changed the lives of those who live on their banks. Based on these travels and interviews he wrote Rivers of Change.
After spending a year completing studies for an MBA at the University of Durham in the UK, Tom spent a few months at his home in Laguna Beach, California, before moving to Islamabad, Pakistan. He now manages the engineering component of a sizable US funded project which is responsible for building roads, flood protection walls, rural water supply systems, and for rehabilitating schools in remote regions of Pakistan.
